About REcAP

The Research and Action for Peace Network (REcAP Network) project is an initiative being implemented by the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), in partnership with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) with funding from the European Union (EU). The project seeks to establish a sustainable, more inclusive, and effective regional network of experts specialised in peacebuilding, the prevention of conflicts and violent extremism in West Africa and the Lake Chad Basin to act as an interactive platform for regional cooperation.
The REcAP Network project has been designed to respond to capacity gaps and limitations to collaboration between peacebuilding experts, policy makers and practitioners and to improve the impact, progress, and sustainability of peacebuilding research, policy, and practice.

Project Objective

The overall objective is to strengthen the role of Civil Society, including regional, national and community practitioners (including women and youth groups) and researchers in effective peacebuilding, crisis management and prevention of conflict and violent extremism to enable more informed decisionmaking by policy makers.

Project Outcomes

  • An online platform to facilitate exchange of ideas, information, best practices, and knowledge among network members.
  • Studies on conflict prevention, violent extremism, crisis management and peacebuilding
